Sometimes we spend so much time looking ahead that we forget to notice where we are.
Painting has taught me that light is always changing. If I don't stop and really look, I miss it. Maybe life is the same way. Today, I hope you find one beautiful thing that was there all along, simply waiting to be noticed.

My goal is not simply to illustrate a story, but to invite young readers into it. Through expressive characters, thoughtful details, and carefully composed scenes, I hope children will pause, wonder, laugh, and discover something new each time they turn the page. The illustrations often tell their own story, rewarding curious eyes with little surprises waiting to be found.
As both an illustrator and designer, I think about every page as part of a visual journey. Color, composition, movement, and even quiet spaces work together to guide a child's imagination.
Every line, color, and expression has a purpose. I strive to create illustrations that spark curiosity, encourage empathy, and celebrate the wonder of the natural world. I hope that children see themselves in these pages; not only in the adventures, but in the courage, kindness, and quiet discoveries that shape each story.

I've discovered that painting has less to do with the brush than it does with learning to see. The older I get, the more I realize that beauty isn't rare.
It's patient.
It's waiting for us to slow down long enough to notice it.

Where Stories Begin
Some of my earliest classrooms didn't have walls.
As a young girl living in Canada, I spent summers camping in the Canadian Rockies, hiking forest trails, learning outdoor skills, and discovering the wonders of the natural world. Through Brownies and Girl Guides, I learned how to build campfires, practice first aid, care for the environment, and appreciate the beauty of the world around me.
Those early experiences eventually led to 23 years living in the Colorado Rockies—camping, hiking, raising my children, leading Girl Scouts, and sharing with them the same lessons nature had once given me.
What I didn't realize then was that nature was teaching me something even more important: how to observe. To ask questions. To pay attention.
Those lessons stayed with me throughout my life.
As an adult, I continued exploring the natural world in new ways. I became a certified PADI scuba diver with certifications in Deep Diver and Search and Recovery. I explored coral reefs and shipwrecks, swam with manatees, and experienced the beauty of life beneath the ocean's surface. Looking up through the water and seeing sunlight stream down through the blue is a sight I have never forgotten.
Those experiences deepened my appreciation for the remarkable creatures that share our planet, including the cast of characters in my Climate Conscious Animal Adventure Series.
I hope my stories inspire young readers to look closely at the world around them, ask questions, explore nature, and discover the wonder that exists in even the smallest creatures.
Because every adventure begins with curiosity.
And every act of curiosity begins by noticing.
